PERSONAL:
Dave grew up in Denver, played sports, enjoyed scouting and attended school in the Park Hill Neighborhood, graduating from East High School. He attended C.U. in Boulder and graduated from there, ( none too soon as far as his parents were concerned). After a three year stint as an officer in the Marine Corps, Dave joined Lee’s Carpets as a sales manager and lived in California and Montana. The mountains of Colorado drew him home, and he and his wife, Connie, have lived in the Denver/Boulder area for over forty years. They have one daughter and two grandchildren who live in Denver. Connie was ordained an Episcopal priest in Boulder in 1983. She served as priest there to St. John’s, and with Dave’s and others’ help was the founding priest of St. Mary Magdalene in Boulder. She was Canon Missioner of St. John’s Cathedral, Denver and now is the rector of St. Andrew’s near downtown Denver.
Much of Dave’s leisure time is spent in outreach ministries, tutoring and mentoring children in the inner city and helping to establish a private elementary school emphasizing the arts for disadvantaged, but talented kids. With his family, Dave also enjoys traveling, being particularly attracted to the high chaparral country of northern New Mexico, and he travels to Italy whenever possible. He’s never lost his interest in politics and current affairs, and now enjoys debating newspaper editorials on-line. An opera buff, Dave has also been know to watch more than a “few” CU football games over the years, and there are rumors that he has even been seen at scrimmages.
